  1. How many have every gotten the, “I can get my own door”, or “I can do that myself”?

The first time, that I went to help Julia(Yulia) with her chair, she looked shocked. I asked Julia, why the shocked look, she told me that they had been told western men, do not do these things for women. As western men, I feel we have either gotten a bad rap or we just stopped caring, because of our western women’s attitudes.

I am amazed at just how sweet and appreciative, she is for just the little things I do. She was sick last week and could not believe, that I was taking care of her, bring her tea, soup and making her stay in bed. She could not explain the feeling she was having, but was so happy, that I was doing this.

Chivalry is not dead, dying yes. I think it really takes the right women to bring it out in us.

A western woman’s attitude is that they are owed this, just because they are a woman..

    • Thanks for your feedback – it is nice to hear when an Eastern European Woman is surprised by the good deeds of a Western Man.

So far as Chivalry – who wants to fetch tea for a woman with purple hair, an earring in her nose who insists on being treated like a Man and who really despises Men and shows it every chance she gets?

  2. I have such a bad attitude now just being around women.i feel like if I went to russia, I would be forcing myself to act chivalrous. Its been taken out of me living in san francisco for 10 yrs now. I just found an older woman to hang with but now she expect all this….shit.they cant understand that if your over fifty and single, no ones coming to your rescue and buy you a big ass house and somehow magically you wont have to work anymore but you cant even give a guy a bj once in a while. Am I ranting?

    • I would like for you to go to Ukraine or Russia, go out on a few dates, have 3 beers and then come back to this topic.

      • Good point.
Steve…start spending some of your valuable time with young women from the more male friendly regions of the world…your attitude will change. Since women from those regions have earned (at least my) respect.
Being chivalrous with spoiled western women is a bad investment…they deserve no more courtesy than another dude walking in the other direction on the sidewalk. I’m being generous too.

  3. The cynic in me thinks it is dead, buried, and the feminists are given a map to its grave so that they can dance on it singing “Hallelujah!”

The reality is that I do get a few “I can do that myself” comments. From the rest I get a deadpan “thank you”. Devoid of any feeling at all, very robotic.

  4. I wouldn’t say it’s dead, so much as it tainted. If that makes any sense. I just say it just not appreciated anymore, feminism has instilled the idea that women don’t need a man for anything, and you can do things just as well as any man.

So the polite gesture of opening a door and such is shuned in western society. Some women do like if do it, but they are a rare breed indeed.

  5. On chivalry as door-holding: It seems to me the women who say or think the trivially obvious ‘I can do it myself’ don’t get that a man holding a door for us is a polite gesture and an acknowledgement that we are women. I appreciate the gesture and feel flattered that he has noticed that yes, I am a lady! If I happen to get to the target door first I will always hold the door for those behind me because it is polite. Most men will come around behind me and take over my door-holding task and let me go through first, but some do go through before me. Occasionally men who arrive first do not hold the door and simply go through before me. Although it is silly and I guess reflexive, I find myself slightly taken aback when men do not hold the door (though I believe this reaction is entirely internal and does not show!). I am sure this whole door-holding thing is confusing for men, but if you want to hold doors for women I think you should continue to do so since who are you worried about ‘offending’: women who appreciate your gesture or those who don’t?

    • Hi Jennifer,
      Fair enough.

Yes. It is confusing but I hold the door for women (and generally everyone else too) but I just wish more people would be appreciative. A simple thanks or smile is what most men want.
      Thanks for your comment.

      • It must really suck to get a negative reaction. Some people are full of themselves. Seeker, if you have received a negative reaction I am glad you take the high road despite that and continue to be polite.

        • Thank you Jennifer for your replies. Yes, Seeker is the Man. Can’t wait to hear about his future overseas journey’s to find his other half. He’ll have no problem because he’s sharp, wise and confident. Glad he’s saving it for the right lady and not someone who would take advantage of him.

    • It has come to such an extreme that some Western women are offended if you hold the door for them. The way they see it, they should hold the door for Men. Every time I go to the mall, I see that the boys dress like girls and the girls like boys. Some groups in our society and government have gone well out of their way to erase gender lines in this country.

For a Man who wants a “traditional” marriage, the only real choice today is to look overseas. Even in “traditional” families with “traditional values,” the women of said family are DAILY bombarded with feminist-think. Well, the Men are too…

I was recently at a US Government symposium and there was “required gender training” before the meeting started that we were all required to attend. It explained to us that there is NO difference between the sexes and that to acknowledge any differences was tantamount to sexual harassment. It is now US Government gospel that there is no difference between the sexes; feminism IS institutionalized.
